Brusea - Museum

Brusea in Bruinisse is a fishing museum with a local history room. It tells the story of mussel and oyster fishing, which has supported the people of Bruinisse since the 15th century.
What can you expect at Brusea?
- Fishing: You see mussel fishing past and present, tools, ship carpentry and stories of the lifeboat service. A film shows how mussels are processed, and the 1911 storm that wrecked many ships in the harbour is covered too.
- Local history room: In an adjoining 18th century listed building you see a fisherman's home with period rooms, costumes, glass and pottery.
- Children: There is a seawater aquarium and a shell collection. Children can bake a Zeeuwse bolus or do a treasure hunt.
Practical information
- Season: Mainly open in season, from mid April to late September and in the autumn half term, Monday to Saturday afternoons. Groups are welcome all year.
- Audio tour: A new audio tour takes you through the museum's stories.
